Why one day is not enough – und two have only just begun

#HerrMeier – the fountain philosopher

Servus! Or, as they would say back in England: Hello!
I am #HerrMeier – the bronze fountain philosopher here at Landhaus Gritschacher. I stand here. For years now. I do not move, aber I observe a lot. Und the longer I stand, the more certain I become: one day is not enough – even if it has 24 hours.
Arriving is not the same as being there.
On the first day, you arrive. You with your bikes und rucksacks, you with your stress – und with the dog, who usually relaxes faster than the Herrl. You take a breath. Some sit down. Others check the Wi-Fi straight away. Aber nobody notices: the most important thing does not happen immediately. You need to slow down.
Because those who arrive are usually still on the road. In their heads. In their souls. With everything that would really be a holiday.
Slow Food is not a trend here. It’s a mindset. Here, we cook what grows. Eat what makes sense. Und season it with time, conversations und a wink. Not with additives. You can taste when it is honest. Just as you can feel when a place touches you. But those who leave again straight away may have eaten their fill – aber taken nothing with them. Und that would be a pity.
ecause outside, more is waiting for you: Lake Millstatt, which in the morning looks almost painted – aber does not shout, only whispers: stay a little longer. The Goldeck, standing above everything like a sentence you have to read twice – so that you really understand it. Und the second coffee on the terrace – which tastes quite different from the first. Because suddenly there is quiet in it. Just enjoy the silence.
I tell you as it is: one day is enough for an overnight stay. Aber not for an experience. Not for a feeling. Und certainly not for Gulasch und the lake.
My advice as #HerrMeier:
Take your time. Stay. Two nights. Three. Or long enough until you feel: “Now I am really here.” Und if you do it properly, you will leave at some point – aber with a piece of stillness in your luggage.
🥄 Fountain philosophy to take away:
“One day is like Kaiserschmarrn without raisins – guad, aber somehow something is still missing halt.”
With a bronze smile, your #HerrMeier
