From old nerve factor to new favourite spot
Honestly, sometimes you simply have to admit when something no longer fits.
The old entrance area was exactly that. It had been getting on our nerves for quite a while – until, in October, the decision was finally made: “That’s enough. Time to change it.”
An entrance is not just a passageway. It is the first thing you see when you arrive, and the last thing you take in before you leave. It should say “welcome” – not give the impression that time had stood still for a little too long.
October was our month of change Those who know us know: we do not really do things by halves. Once we start, we see it through. So the hallway was next. Walter picked up the paintbrush, screws came out, tools were everywhere – and, as you can see in the video below, there was more than enough dust along the way.
There were moments when we stood there among masking tape and paint buckets, asking ourselves: “Why exactly are we doing this to ourselves?”
The result: a window to the lake
The effort was worth it. The space is bright and friendly now, with an eye-catcher that still makes us happy every day. Walking through it now, it suddenly feels as if you are stepping straight out towards the lake. That was exactly the feeling we were after – arriving should begin before you even reach the room.
Of course, #HerrMeier had something to say about the renovation too. As he does. With a little wink. He said the new entrance is now so inviting that he might actually have to climb out of his bathtub more often, just to take a look at the “window to the lake”.
Watch the short video – it shows how the old “nerve factor” became the entrance we had hoped for.
